Sunrise Splash at Carlin Park Beach

Not much of a sunrise this morning at Carlin Park, so I focused my attention on the waves bashing against the rocks. Catching a good wave is much harder than it looks. This is as good as it gets from all the exposures I took that morning.

HDR shot of a surfer looking to catch the early morning wave at the Juno Beach Pier. I've lived in Florida 20 plus years and I don't think I've ever seen the waves this big before. The surfers were all out crawling the beach way before the sun broke out. Most of the surfers stood speechless, trying to figure out how the hell they were gonna get out there. I was lucky to get this shot of a surfer with the surfboard laying unguarded in the foreground.

Here's a cool shot of the sunrise taken from the Jupiter Inlet Beach. The wind has been blowing like crazy the last few days because of the hurricane. I believe there's something like 4 storms out in the Atlantic! Wow... I can't wait till they start rolling in this way. Anyone want to shoot the wind surfers at the beach!

This little fisherman picture was taken at the Jupiter Inlet during sunrise. It was a strange sunrise that morning. I'm pretty sure it was due to the hurricane that was hovering off the Atlantic coast. I sorta played around with the colors on this photo, added a little purple hue to the overall image, which I never do. I've been playing around with different colors lately. I usually prefer sepia tones, but I've been feeling colorful these past few days :)

This is one of those early morning shots, a few minutes before sunrise. Composing a shot this early in the morning is rather difficult due to the lack of light. Even without light, it's amazing the amount of color present in the sky an hour before sunrise.

Minus the mosquitoes biting us, we had a action packed evening at Carlin Park shooting the moonrise, or at least when the moon decided to show itself. It took awhile for the moon to climb over all the clouds. We were hoping the clouds would have moved by then but they seem motionless the entire night.

This photo was shot in aperture priority mode. Camera was set at f/22 to get the longest exposure possible for a smooth water effect. I also have a few shots set to a faster f-stop but this was the effect I was going for with this photo. I'll post the other HDR images in the days to follow.

Went to the Juno Beach Pier early this morning... pitch black early, with a couple of shutterbug friends. I had this exact picture in my head when I went out to shoot. This nighttime HDR photo came out much better than expected. The Canon 5D MK2 does an excellent job underneath low light conditions. This was the one reason I upgraded to this camera.

Almost drove back home this morning after seeing how bland the sky was. I wasn't expecting much since I already missed the sunrise. But I decided to go anyways to scope out Carlin Park, an old place long forgotten. My parents brought me here when I was young. I'm glad I didn't go back, cause I found a new favorite spot, so expect more shots from here!
